DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
From Raymond Zhang, Director, STATE ORGANS
“Never in human history have we ever seen such cruelty,” Jim said to me when I talked to him in 2018. The crippled old man had been searching for his younger daughter’s whereabouts since she mysteriously disappeared in police custody.
On April 09, 2002, at 2:00 am Pacific time, Yun phoned her sister, Michelle, who recorded her speech. That was the last time the young lady was heard by this world.
Jim, Yun’s father, learned from government insiders that Yun was secretly transferred to Shandong Female Prison in early 2002 and detained there indefinitely. At about the same time, a hospital near the prison started its organ transplant business. What happened next is a state secret.
State Organs is a documentary film produced in Canada in 2023.
